Assistant Manager, Pharmacy Informatics
Responsible for the development, implementation, support and maintenance of medication and pharmacy related components the new Core Clinical Patient Care System for ALL Acute Care Hospitals. This position will interact closely with the Corporate Information Technology (IT) Pharmacy Analyst team to maximize functionality and patient safety of our clinical systems. Coordinates and supports Acute Care Hospitals with implementation, upgrades and training on all existing Pharmacy related technology platforms (including Siemens, Pyxis and web based programs). Responsible for developing a testing plan and validation of all programs related to medication management and pharmacy prior to implementation. Supports the Corporate Manager Pharmacy Informatics & Technology in development of new programs as well as to maintain, optimize and expand current technology platforms and programs. Works with Acute Care Hospitals to ensure all programs related to Medication distribution and safety are up to date and functioning properly.
Essential Job Duties
* Responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and maintenance of the computerized pharmacy system.
Support current Siemens Pharmacy program.
* Support and optimize pharmacy related technology (i.e. Amplifi, Quantifi, Sentri7, and web based drug information databases).
Support Pyxis equipment and procedures.
* Develop and maintain an excellent working relationship with the Pharmacy Analysts on the IT staff to ensure positive communications and outcomes in all areas. Coordinates problem resolution with IT Pharmacy Analyst team.
* Provides expertise and guidance to IT staff in the management of pharmacy and medication use database, master files and tables.
* Maintain clinical information integrity in all relevant systems.
* Monitor system safety by critical incidents reported.
* Participates in testing and validation for any modification or upgrades to pharmacy modules to ensure proper outcomes through integrated testing, auditing and documentation review.
* Works with Acute Care Pharmacy Directors to ensure staff training and proper utilization of pharmacy systems.
* Communicates with Acute Care hospitals to maximize the pharmacy program to increase productivity and staff satisfaction with the use of these programs.
* Work with the Corporate Business Office to ensure all required data is provided for accurate billing and revenue collection.
* Drafts and recommends changes to departmental policies and procedures in areas of responsibility and promotes compliance with these policies and procedures.
* Represents Corporate Pharmacy on inter- and intradepartmental committees and review boards as assigned.
* Serves as departmental customer service representative. Presents materials in a positive manner to co-workers, healthcare professionals and all customers. Resolves problems or concerns as necessary.
* Functions as change agent.
* Keeps abreast of ongoing technical developments in areas of responsibility and recommends improvements to supervisor.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
